About the organization

Pass. Kick. Donate! was started in 2010 as Rachael's Bat Mitzvah project. She wanted to combine her love of soccer and the ability to give back to the community. Through Pass. Kick. Donate!, she is able to achieve that.

During the summer of 2010, Maya, Rachael and her brother (along with her grandparents) were able to go to South Africa to visit relatives and to see the 2010 FIFA World Cup. South Africa was engulfed in the spirit of the World Cup. Everyone was cheering for the "Bafana bafana", or "the boys, the boys", which is what they called the South African soccer team. The spirit of the Cup was enormous, even those in the impoverished communities in the townships were totally engaged in the World Cup.

When we visited, we were able to experience the palpable spirit in the townships, where people, who are from backgrounds that were disadvantaged before independence in 1994, live. The children of the townships are so passionate about the South African soccer team that they idolized the soccer players by mimicking their every move to the best of their ability. Yet, many of the kids in the townships and these previously disadvantaged communities are not able to play soccer or do not have the right gear to play the way we do.

Because of our experience in South Africa, Pass. Kick. Donate! was started so that we could help the children of the townships pursue their love of soccer.

Since 2010, we have donated gear twice to the Devonshire Rovers soccer club based out of South Africa. We are always looking for ways to send gear to other parts of the world as well.
